According to Robert Bowling from Infinity Ward a new perk coming in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been confirmed called Akimbo which will allow the player to dual wield sidearms. Currently, it appears the perk allows any sidearms to be dual wielded - as referenced in this article at IGN where Robert was able to pick and use dual Desert Eagles... There are obviously some balancing concerns that go along with the new perk that need to be figured out. Read the full article here.

Saw youtube footage of akimbo sawed off shotguns.. looked pretty stupid imo.

I've seen some youtube footage of Robert Bowling talking about the changes to the PC version. Not surprisingly that was pretty stupid too.
